How can this service be offered
for free?
Fiserv is the company that
powers payments for hundreds of billing companies
on the Internet. These companies have partnered
with Fiserv to bring you this online billing
and payment service for free. How? The companies
you receive bills from provide Fiserv with your
bill information at your request. After you sign
up, you'll select the companies whose bills you
want to receive and view online. Fiserv works
directly with those companies to make sure your
bills are ready to view and pay at the click of
your mouse in one convenient, secure, online place.
And best of all, those companies you've selected
pick up the tab!
*Fees may apply for same-day
payments.
What is an online billing
and payment service?
With an online billing and
payment service, you can receive, view, and pay your
online bills from one personalized, secure Web site.
What are the benefits of using
an online billing and payment service?
- Save time and money - No checks.
No stamps. No hassle.
You can select bills from hundreds of local and
national companies, and Scout, The Bill
RetrieverSM, will retrieve those bills for you in
seconds!
- You schedule the date to make
payments and gain greater control over the bill
management process through your personalized MyCheckFreeSM
Web site, which we'll automatically set up for you.
You can view, pay, and track your bills from one,
central place. All of your monthly bill information
- right at your fingertips!
- Receive your bill statements
online, instead of through the mail. Your bills
can even be sent directly to your e-mail address
or appear on your MyCheckFree site. You can see
the amount you owe, the due date, view the bill
detail, and pay the bill. Each month you'll receive
a reminder e-mail to login and review each new bill.
What is an e-bill?
An e-bill, or electronic bill,
is like the paper statement you receive each month now
in an electronic format for viewing online. You
can see all of the same detail in an e-bill that
you can in a paper statement, and more.
How do I sign up?
Our sign-up process is simple
and efficient - yet detailed enough to ensure security
and privacy - as we gather the information necessary
to deliver your online bills and process your payments.
It takes about 5 minutes to complete the sign-up process.
You just need to provide some basic information to
get started:
- Your name, address, phone
number, and e-mail address. This helps us provide
the highest quality of service when it comes to
taking care of your payments.
- The account information, such
as account numbers, from billers whose bills you
will want to receive online.
What are the computer system
requirements to use the service?
Fiserv supports the following browsers:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0 and higher
- Firefox 9.0 and higher
- Chrome 15 and higher
To ensure a high standard of security, Fiserv requests
that you access our site with a browser that supports 128-bit encryption. For
an optimal user experience, please ensure that your monitor is set at a minimum
to an 800 x 600 display resolution.
How quickly will my bills
be paid?
Payments begin processing two
(2) business days prior to your scheduled payment
date, so you'll need to schedule payments a few
days prior to the due date. Through this service,
you can also schedule payments up to a year in advance,
and should you happen to schedule a payment to be
received on a weekend or a holiday, it will automatically
be adjusted to fall on the previous business day.
Paying bills electronically enhances your ability
to control your payments, allowing you to better
manage your cash flow and avoid late fees - which
can hurt your credit record.
What payment methods can I
use to pay my bills?
You can pay your online bills
using a checking or money-market account. Credit Cards are not supported.
Can I stop paying paper statements?
You should continue to pay
your paper statements from each biller until your first
online bill from that company arrives. Depending
on the billing company, this can happen within minutes
or may take up to one billing cycle. Each company
may have different rules about continuing to send
paper statements; so it may be possible to receive paper
bills and e-bills depending on the company you select.
You will receive an e-mail when you have new e-bills
online ready to view, and can print copies of all
your bills from the Web site to retain for your
records. It's all about convenience!
Can I view and pay bills that
might be in another person's name?
Companies that provide bills
through this service will allow you to view any
e-bills you are authorized to see based on the information
you provided during the sign-up process. In some
cases, these companies may elect to allow you to
view bills where another individual's name, such
as a spouse, is on the account, as long as you successfully
provide the verification information required by
that company.
